Redbubble

Redbubble is a company that allows independent artists such as myself to sell my artwork on a number of different products. From framed prints to t-shirts, iPhone covers to travel mugs and much more. There are over fifty different products to choose from. They handle all of the financial transactions, printing and production of the products and the delivery and customer service.

Using a company like Redbubble to print my artwork has a lot of benefits. Most importantly, it frees up my time to keep on creating which is what I do best. Secondly, it provides the same quality products I produced myself, at a fraction of the price.

To give an example, in 2005 I was selling large framed prints for around $500. Most of this money went into printing, framing and delivering. Not to mention, I had to get space in a gallery, pay commissions and so on. Oh, and I had to pay all that out before I was guaranteed a sale.

Today, I can sell that same product, for around $200. My gallery is completely online both on this website and on Redbubble.com. My upfront costs are around a hundred dollars a year for a domain name and hosting regardless of how many art and photography pieces I sell. And that's it. All I need to do is upload my creations. It couldn't be simpler.

Each month, Redbubble pays me a commision of around 30% for any artwork sales made during the month. On top of that, as I am an affiliate member. This means that for anyone that purchases any products (not just mine) on the Redbubble site, I receive a small commission just for sending them the customer.

Redbubble has made being a creative person, sustainable, profitable and more fun. There is no longer an excuse to be a starving artist.

I love it when people say "that's a cool iPhone cover, where did you get it?" Not only that, the cover has saved my phone from a number of tumbles being the clumsy person I am.

If you take photos or create artwork, I highly recommend giving them a go. You may just start a new career. If you have a website to promote artwork, maybe consider Joining the Redbubble affiliate program!. If you just appreciate great art, photography and design, head on over to Redbubble.com and see what you can find.
