The Midnight Moth

Death wraps its cold arms around me once more.

The toxins of life cleanse from my blood.

Visions of my past flash before my eyes,

from this life or a previous one, I do not know.

The midnight moth arrives to claim my soul,

but cannot penetrate its cold blackened aura.

The rain pitters to the ground,

so innocently creating puddles.

The puddles form streams that lead to rivers.

The river floods leaving only chaos, death and destruction.

A feeling of solitude as my soul leaves me,

before returning for a short period of eternity.

The moth too returns for a second attempt.

Its wings freeze and crumble showering the land in dust.

A rumble from the heavens so magnificent, signals the end of my trip.

I return to the living to continue my sins.
