Sebsky Tools overview
Sebsky Tools consists of five utilities, aimed at making Apple Computers
Final Cut Pro (FCP) and Avids Media and Film Composer (Avid) integrate
better: ale2fcp, fcp2ale,
Batch
Add TC, TC Player and bwf2qt.
ale2fcp and fcp2ale lets you convert batch lists/ALE shot logs between
the two systems.
Batch Add TC lets you automatically add timecode tracks to QuickTime
movies exported from Avid.
TC Player lets you view QuickTime movies and add and delete timecode
tracks manually.
bwf2qt lets you import Broadcast Wave Format (bwf) audio files into FCP.
Video Standards and timecode
Sebsky Tools work with three Video Standards: PAL, NTSC and 24 fps.
Converting timecodes from NTSC to 24 fps in FCP batch lists is possible,
just as it is possible to add a 24 fps based timecode track to a QuickTime
file with data taken from an NTSC ALE shot log. NOTE: It is currently NOT
possible to convert PAL timecode into 24 fps timecode.
The conversion of NTSC timecode to 24 fps uses this scheme:
NTSC frame number | 24 fps frame number |
00 | 00 |
01 | 01 |
02 | 02 |
03 | 02 |
04 | 03 |
05 | 04 |
06 | 05 |
07 | 06 |
08 | 06 |
09 | 07 |
10 | 08 |
11 | 09 |
12 | 10 |
13 | 10 |
14 | 11 |
15 | 12 |
16 | 13 |
17 | 14 |
18 | 14 |
19 | 15 |
20 | 16 |
21 | 17 |
22 | 18 |
23 | 18 |
24 | 19 |
25 | 20 |
26 | 21 |
27 | 22 |
28 | 22 |
29 | 23 |
This conversion is used in Batch Add TC and in ale2fcp.
It is possible to add a NTSC timecode to a 24 fps clip WITHOUT the conversion. However, FCP cannot recognize this timecode and will display the timecode as 00:00:00:00.
