About   the   picture

This image began its life as an idea for a logo for my production company Hysteria Productions. At the time I was using a lightning bolt in some dark misty hills. I wanted to bring a lighter, more colourful feel to the brand with a deep sense of fantasy.

So I played in Photoshop and ended up with this image. The only problem was, I had no idea at the time of how I could animate it as an intro to my films. The more I looked at it the more I realised that as much as I loved the image, it was not right for the brand. I even realised that after ten years, the lightning wasn't right either. I eventually used a graphic version of my face in mixed emotions which worked perfectly and served til the end.

I've never really felt that this image is finished. Over the years, I've gone back to it, adding, changing, tinkering. Everything I do detracts from it in some way. Maybe there is a deeper meaning to it feeling unfinished that I am yet to understand.
