About   the   picture

As a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) I was an active member of their forum community. One of the fellow members started a weekly Photoshop challenge. He would find an image on a stock photography site, post it to the forums and whoever wanted to play had to make something from the image. It was good fun and a brilliant way to hone those Photoshop skills and try out new ones.

For this particular challenge, we were given the image of a bearing. As soon as I saw it, I saw an eye of a robot or cyborg. So I searched the stock website for more images to create what was in my head. And then, what so often happens to me, I got distracted and went down one of the infinite web rabbit holes. It's here that I stumbled across the quote;

"The dew of compassion is a tear"
by Lord Byron

I loved the quote and new I wanted to incorporate it into the artwork somehow. I got back on track and found a stock image of a mime and some sky and started constructing the artwork.

Now that I was using the quote, the image took on a different direction as a robot no longer seemed to fit. So I allowed my imagination to wander and made it into something surreal.

Of all the images I created for the NAPP forums, this one is my favourite.
